About Us

From One Cooperative to Another…

The Business Services Cooperative (BSC) began as a creative way to offer bookkeeping support to a worker cooperative by a former worker-owner.

Today we serve resident-owned communities, cooperatives of all shapes and sizes, small businesses, and non-profits working for the benefit of a shared and community owned economy.

We’ve grown into an efficient team working remotely and paperless, offering our services across the region and look forward to the ways we’ll continue to grow.

Our mission is to strengthen a cooperative economy by providing comprehensive business and consulting services primarily to cooperatives and small businesses by skilled and helpful professionals.

Meet Our Team

Our team of employee-owners offer full-charge bookkeeping and business support services to resident-owned communities, cooperatives, other member-owned organizations, and small businesses. Although we specialize in member-owned and member-controlled entities, our clients operate in many different industries.

Hidden Village Owners Association

We are very happy with their services. Staff are responsive to our needs and are prompt with their reports. They work well with our CPA on our annual audits. As a volunteer treasurer with no relevant experience, I very much appreciate that they take the time to provide technical assistance in areas like budgeting and documenting expenditures, and are friendly, kind, and patient with me.

Capital Homecare Cooperative

When we came to the Business Services Co-op and started working with them, we were amazed with the professionalism, integrity and kindness with which they met us. They spent time getting to know us, to know our business and industry standards, to understand our insecurities and worked hard to meet us halfway.

New Moon Cooperative Café

With BSC on our team, we are able to put much of our financial work into the hands of people we trust and know, and people who know the guts of our business in a real and intimate way. Because BSC understands our business model and has developed a history with us, we can count on BSC to guide us with financial questions and advice, as well as thoroughly and accurately handle our finances.
